Bald Eagle 10-1 thru 10-4-2023

10/2-10/23
Started on Spring Creek. Fog was heavy in the morning and I missed a few on dries.
Still, a beautiful day to be on the stream. Shortly, the sun would come out in earnest. It became a robin egg blue sky and the air temps hovered at about 80…
The second day I went to Black Mo. This is a spot that I thought I'd have a shot at a few fish but the sun was intense and the beavers blocked up the stream. I…
It makes for a pretty picture but it didn't help the fishing. Fish wouldn't even chase a streamer. Didn't expect the temps to be as warm as they were. Just…
The third day I spent on Bald Eagle. Again, the water temps about 65 degrees and the flows were favorable. Heavy fog helped to minimize the effects of the sun.
Nothing on the surface worked so I took a page from Mike's handbook and threw wets and soft hackles. Started getting bumps almost immediately.
And this is what was bumping the flies. Had to go smaller to get these little guys to hit.
Love fishing this stretch. Lots of water and usually, lots of fish.
Then another. Inbetween the catches, I hooked a few, missed a few and lost a few. Had a blast.
As soon as the fog burnt off and the sun was on the water the fish bite was off. Almost as if someone hit a switch.
All I managed to get were little ones...but I was happy.
